N.E. Asia Travel Guide

N.E. Asia

China forms the most popular tourist hub in the Northeast region of Asia with the Great Wall of China, the Silk Route and the Yungang Grottoes that contain over 51, 000 Buddhist carvings. For trekking and hiking, the Songnisan mountains of South Korea are just perfect while North Korea’s Paekdusan mountains are its most sacred site. Northeast Asia’s cultural heritage can be seen in South Korea’s Seongnamsa temple with its interlocking stone path and a multi-storeyed pagoda and Taiwan’s National Palace Museum that exhibits artifacts dating back to the 10th century. For fun at the beach, the tropical island of Hainan in China is the place to go. Many sites related to the Second World War and the Korean, such as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial in Japan, the town of Nanjing in China and the beaches at Inchon are worth visiting by historically-inclined tourists.
