Scandinavia
Scandinavia is primarily known for its spellbinding natural beauty. Sweden’s Sarek National Park with its glaciers and mountain peaks is great for trekking and hiking as is Norway’s Jotunheimen National Park. Scandinavia also has its share of beautiful castles like the Rosenborg Castle of Denmark and the Akershus Castle and Fortress of Norway. Historical monuments are abound in Scandinavia such as the Bronze Age rock carvings of Vitlycke depicting daily life, animal hunts and ships of Sweden and Aalborg that contains the largest Viking burial ground in Denmark. The fjords of Norway and the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen are other popular tourist attractions.
More than geographical, Scandinavia nowadays primarily reflects the linguistic similarities between the different countries of this region, apart from the historical and social ties. The region was home to the Viking explorers.
