Opening hours and holidays
Shops generally open Mon-Sat between 9am-1pm and 3pm-6 or

Portugal and stay open until 10pm or midnight. Larger supermarkets
tend to stay open until 8pm. Museums, churches and monuments
open from around 10am to 6pm; almost all museums and monuments,
however, are closed on Mondays, and at Easter, when cultural life
seems to cease completely.
The main public holidays are: Jan 1; Feb 12 (Carnival);
Good Friday; April 25 (Revolution day); May 1 (Labour day); Corpus
Christi; June 10 (Camões day) ; Jun 24 (St John's Day, Lisbon
only); Aug 15 (Assumption); Oct 5 (Republic day); Nov 1 (All
Saints); Dec 1 (Independence day); Dec 8 (Immaculate Conception
day); Dec 25.
