Latin America
Latin America is an exotic destination for travelers. Consisting of the regions south of the United States, Latin America covers everything from Mexico, to Central and South America and the Caribbean. Beginning with the varied World Heritage Sites such as the Mayan ruins in Belize and Honduras and Mexico’s Guanajuato town, Latin America is also home to some of the world’s most splendid beaches such as those of Bahamas, Martinique, Cancún and Nichupté Lagoon - not to mention the white sand bliss of the Caribbean. The region is also known for its unique flora and fauna, especially those found in the Amazon River Basin. This natural beauty can be savored in the national parks of Costa Rica, Belize, Guatemala, Peru and Panama. The Andean Highlands in South America, the Atacama Desert in Chile and Patagonian Desert in Argentina are other natural wonders in Lain America.
Latin America refers to those nations where languages derived from Latin, such as Spanish, Portuguese, and French were spoken during colonial times. Latin America was home to advanced civilizations such as the Aztecs, Incas and Mayas, among others. A majority of the people in Latin America are of mixed origin, as a result of racial intermingling among Europeans, Africans, and American natives.
