Quebec Travel Guide

Transport

Train services within the province serve Montréal, Gaspé, Québec City and Jonquière, and there are also services to Ontario, New Brunswick and the US - with Montréal very much the pivot. Buses are your best bet for getting around, with the major places connected by Orléans Express and Intercar services, supplemented by a network of smaller local lines. However, distances between communities in the outlying areas can be immense, and in order to reach more remote parks and settlements on secondary roads a car is pretty much essential. Around Montréal and Québec City the shores of the St Lawrence are linked by bridges, and towards the north a network of ferries links the Gaspé with the Côte-Nord. In the far northeast the supply ship Nordik Express serves the Île d'Anticosti and the roadless lower north shore as far as the Labrador border - the ultimate journey within Québec.
