North of the Zócalo
Just a couple of blocks north of the centre the vast openness of
Zócalo gives way to a much more intimate section of small colonial
plazas and mostly eighteenth-century buildings. It is still an
active commercial area, and is packed with a mixed bag of ornate
churches, small museums and some very fine Rivera and Siqueiros
murals , all of which can be seen in a few hours.
