Mexico City Travel Guide (Mexico City, Mexico)

San Ángel

Café Corazon , Frontera 4, just along from Plaza San Jacinto. Small and friendly bar and venue noted for its advocacy of trova music, predominantly with acoustic singer-songwriters on Friday and Saturday nights. Free or with a very small cover. Mexican contemporary music on Sat night.

La Camelia , Plaza San Jacinto. Rowdy early evening boozing to recent US and Latin pop hits, either inside or out on the street.

New Orleans , Revolución 1655 (tel 5550-1908). Excellent jazz venue-cum-restaurant with very good food at moderate prices and a classy Cuban house band. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday, but weekends are much the liveliest unless there is some international jazz act playing. Entry costs US$4 (US$5-6 on Fri & Sat) plus there's a US$10 minimum consumption, but it is worth it.
